The tallest tower in the world, the Tokyo Skytree (634 meters high), opens to the public.  A broadcasting and observation tower that contains a restaurant, the tower is the primary television and radio broadcast site for the Kantō region, built to reach above the skyscrapers in Tokyo. The Skytree is the second tallest man-made structure on Earth, after Burj Khalifa (829.8 meters high).  Related: Geography Extremes.
