Where Did the Wuhan Coronavirus (2019-nCoV) Start?

The first cases of the coronavirus were detected in the Hubei province in central China in December of 2019. The first case of the virus is believed to have originated from a wet market, a place that sells meat and live animals, in Wuhan.

As of January 30, 2020 11am EST, there are a total of 22 countries and special administrative regions (such as Hong Kong) that are officially reporting cases of the Wuhan Coronavirus. The map below shows all of the countries that have at least one case of the novel coronavirus to date.

What Country Has the Most Wuhan Coronavirus Cases?

The vast majority of reported Wuhan Coronavirus cases are being reported in China, the origin of the novel coronavirus. 98.7% of the coronavirus cases (8,124 out of 8,235) are being reported in mainland China.

The list of countries and the number of confirmed cases as of January 30, 2020 at 11:30am ET is listed below. To date, no confirmed cases have been reported in either South America or Africa. The majority of of cases outside of mainland China are being reported in other areas in Asia. Australia has nine cases, Europe also has nine cases, and North America has 8 cases.
