The  22nd Winter Olympics are being held for the first time in Russia from February 7th to the 23rd, 2014.   Russia previously was host to the 1980 Summer Olympic Games, which were held in Moscow.   According to Olympic.org, the Sochi, Russia location is considered one of the most compact Olympics locations with the distance from the coastal portion of the games in Sochi and the mountain portions in the Krasnaya Polyana Mountains no more than 30 minutes from each other.

European Space Imaging has released a couple of high resolution satellite images showing the Winter Olympic venues at Sochi.  The first image is an annotated view of the coast location in Sochi.  This view shows the ice skating, curling, and medal stand locations as well as the Olympic Village. The image was captured on February 6, 2014 by Worldview-2 (download the Hi-Res version).
