Caitlin Dempsey

NOAA’s Environmental Visualization Lab has created an animation showing progression of the heat dome covering major parts of the United States.  You can watch the animation below.

The map animations shows the daily predicted highs based on NOAA’s high resolution North American Model (NAM) and covers the period from July 13-21, 2011. The high pressure has covered many areas of the United States from the Plains to the Northeast with temperatures reaching into the 90s and 100s.

You can also download the map as a high quality animation in MP4 format.
