ORNL DAAC has released a new GIS product for the western United States. Covering 11 states, the data contains annual estimates of carbon stocks, fluxes, and productivity for Arizona, California, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Utah, Washington, and Wyoming. The data contains estimates model for two different periods: 1979-2014 and 2015-2099. The data can be freely download and contains 11 files in NetCDF (.nc) format: three files with past data from 1979-2014 and eight files with future projections covering 2015-2099. The spatial resolution of the carbon data is 1/24-degree (4 km x 4 km).
The data was produced as part of the North American Carbon Program (NACP) which is a research program tasked with understanding North America’s carbon sources, sinks, and stocks, in particular for Carbon Dioxide (CO2), Methane (CH4), and Carbon Monoxide (CO) in North America and adjacent oceans.
