Updated:

Walk Score is preparing to go open source which they announced on their blog and in a press release..  At walksource.org the source code will be made publicly available.  For now, interested parties can sign up their email addresses to be notified when the open source site will be ready.  The walk source algorithm is being made available as part of a grant received from the Rockerfeller Foundation to Front Seat (the makers of Walk Score).  In addition, public transportation accessibility, predicted transportation costs, and greenhouse emissions will be added to the capabilities of Walk Score.
