How to Find the Latitude and Longitude of a Location Using Google Maps

If you want to find the latitude and longitude of a specific location on Earth, Google Maps offers an easy way to to figure out the coordinates.

This tutorial will take you step-by-step through the process of finding the X,Y coordinates of a specific location using Google Maps.

Load Google Maps and Search for a Location

Open up a browsers and type in maps.google.com to access Google Maps.  Type in the desired location in the search box.

Access Google Maps’ ‘What’s Here’

Find the map icon on the screen showing your searched location.  Right-click and select ‘What’s Here’ from the menu options.

Clicking on ‘What’s here?’ will bring up a location information box at the bottom of the screen:

Now click on the set of coordinates in that information box.  This will bring up coordinates in both decimal degrees and degrees minutes seconds.
